Despite the rapidly declining economy found here in Las Vegas, NV, there are still those ambitious enough to think that they’re business can survive through this draught. From small pizzerias to hole-in-the-wall specialty shops, business owners are still looking to Vegas for their opportunity to thrive. Amongst these supposed lunatics is the crew at the Mirage Hotel and Casino and the Light Group, Las Vegas’ leading hospitality development and management company. To help ring in the 2012 New Year, these two powerhouses have partnered to bring one of New York City’s best nightclubs to Las Vegas.

At first glance of the New York 1OAK property, you won’t be able to believe you’re looking at a nightclub. An intimate setting and rustic décor give 1OAK NY the feel of a lodge or cigar lounge. Wanting to bring a touch of intimacy to the Las Vegas nightlife, the crew behind the new 1OAK at the Mirage has stuck to the general theme offered in the New York property. 1OAK Las Vegas, which stands for One of a Kind, promises an intimate setting with just the right amount of nightclub touches to liven the place up a bit.

1OAK is known for its emphasis on quieter tones, and despite its entry into the Las Vegas nightclub fair, this setting won’t change too much. The beautifully decorated mahogany bar at the New York location should rear its classy head in the new Vegas local, already giving the new 1OAK that “clubhouse”-like feel. The Las Vegas iteration of this property combines the more subdued nature of a bar with a hint of the “bump and grind” offered at a typical nightclub. 1OAK’s seating arrangement is perfect for the intimate atmosphere, offering plush booth styled seating for larger groups or smaller table seating for those one-on-one occasions. A plethora of top shelf liquor, domestic and imported beers, and an extensive menu of fine wines compliment the elegant affair of 1OAK’s nightlife.

Though 1OAK is known for its intimacy and subdued nature, bringing a club to Las Vegas almost guarantees a little bit of a party atmosphere to be included. A mix of house tunes and Top 40 will fill the nightclub delicately, but will give those itching to dance a reason to get up and groove. At 1OAK, you should never find yourself amidst a moshpit of people and any dancing that does go on is kept away from the quiet part of the club.

In coming to Las Vegas, 1OAK may be taking its chances in a dried out economy. Location will be key to this locations survival, and being located in a hotel like the Mirage will practically attract people to it. Seeing how successful some of the other projects the Light Group has helmed are, it’ll be no surprise to watch 1OAK flourish. In a city chockfull of nightclubs, it’s good to see 1OAK bringing something new to Sin City.
